The World Stage

Personal responsibility neglected enslaves the majority.  We are unprepared for the chaos coming.  It is my hope to contribute words that will help us navigate this complicated passage in world history.  “Intelligent Design” offers simple, elegant, principles which work together as a guidance system intended to inspire our “Freedom to Choose”, an essential legacy to the world, necessary for our survival.

Government is made up of people too. This explains their addictions to over spending promises in order to get re-elected (now 15 trillion in debt). And it is we who elect them. It also accounts for their fantasies of power and control, believing that legislation will some how correct the human condition.  Even the best politician is powerless against the momentum of entrenched bureaucracy, influence peddling and corrupt cash.   Thus the grassroots ‘Occupy’.

Leadership must accept, explain and motivate personal responsibility as our grassroots legacy of freedom.   Only through our own free choice will we join into explaining how the mind works in this tug of war, Freedom vs. Slavery, one person at a time.  Freedom to choose discovers there are eternal principles which together help to shape the language capable of inspiring others to join in, Intelligent Design.

Only through our freedom to choose will we discover the next strategy to compete upon the world stage.

Single Breath Relaxation

As a physician, challenged to make contributions to the health and well being of people everywhere, I am fortunate to recognize and attempt to describe principles that govern the way our human mind works.  To me these principles are simple, elegant, genius, and recognizable by a majority of those who take the time to understand them.  As I have claimed, these principles are actually intended to impress us so that we will freely choose a wiser way.   The world needs each of us now more than ever.

In keeping with these principles, I will begin this summary of ideas by reminding the reader that any discussion of this topic triggers a tug of war inside the heart, mind, body, soul and spirit of the participants.  So with freedom to choose as the foundation of all the other principles I will be discussing, there is immediately observable an opposition that is using the same human organs of mind and heart to confuse and confound our efforts, slaves to emotional reflexes.

My theory is based upon what I claim to be reproducible observation. To begin with, I am claiming there is an emotional anatomy that is as real and observable as physical anatomy and likewise similar and unique.  However, where physical anatomy is observable via visible and tangible attributes, emotional anatomy requires visualization, conceptualization, imagination, intellectualization and familiarity to understand.  This would prove to be impossible if it were not governed by simple, elegant, principles.  These principles I believe to be part of an intelligently designed guidance system intended to inspire personal freedom to choose. And through freedom to demonstrate a consistent genius within its structures, it is most rewarding to choose wisely.

Gratitude reboots the machine and offers freedom to choose again, more wisely, more rewarded.

Using four separate identifiers, I claim there is a region within human emotional anatomy that can be found by anyone willing and motivated to examine and discover freedom to choose.  Again I claim this region within the human emotional anatomy is part of an intelligently designed guidance system built into the structure of the human mental apparatus.

Through the acceptance of personal responsibility for our own choices, each of us ought to be capable of confirming this observation if it is a reproducible truth.  This freedom cannot be forced, it must be personally chosen.  (For example: Consider the slow and systematic collapse of the USA social political economic system.  Here we see the tug of war between stories in the macrocosm.  However, this collapse of social architecture does not change the intelligent design of freedom to choose within each individual–Thus the legacy of freedom can be understood as our personal responsibility, another form of ‘occupy’.)

Your willingness to continue reading is a free choice.

I intend for this description of “Single Breath Relaxation” to offer a simple technique that will show you personally how to coordinate your precise focus of attention and identify a specific location within your own emotional anatomy.  Through familiarity with this location within your own mind body soul spirit Emotional Anatomy, you will discover there, freedom to choose.  “Gratitude reboots the machine.”

The first of four specific identifiers I use to verify this hypothesis is your memory function.  Within your mind’s eye memories, have you ever had an experience that was totally peaceful, totally calm, totally relaxing, and made memorable by these unique features?  Can you name it?  Can you use word identifiers to label this place as it will be helpful toward recognizing a unique location within your emotional anatomy.  Some will say “no”, there are none.  Some will find one or two.  Others will have many, similarly rewarding memories stimulated immediately, as these are memories stored in this region of the anatomy and are identifiable and located by similar emotion.  “When the mood changes, the movie changes.”

The second of four specific identifiers I use to verify this hypothesis is found in physical release.  The most easily accessible physical locator for this function are the bodily feelings of relaxation felt upon exhale.  More specifically, take a deep breath through your nose and exhale rapidly through your mouth.  The physical feeling of relaxing diaphragm and chest wall is usually recognizable.  Other more dramatic forms of physical release are found upon emptying an urgently full bladder, also during bowel movement and orgasm, and more subtly when entering the shower, bath or bed.  There is, of course, overlap with the memory function except in the immediacy of exhale.

The third of four specific identifiers I use to verify this hypothesis is found through the use of your intellect.  We are using and developing a vocabulary in this effort to describe and grow familiar with your human emotional anatomy.  The intellect is well developed and participates simply and effectively in identifying this anatomy of gratitude.  For example, what do you say when you get a gift, “thank you.”

The fourth of four specific identifiers I use to verify this hypothesis is found within the emotions.  Again overlapping with the memory functions, can you identify the feeling of gratitude.  Where and when in your life were you truly grateful?  Can you feel it?

Can you, through practice, coordinate all four functions simultaneously?  Visualize memories, feel gratitude, release the breath and say “thank you”.  I call it “single breath relaxation”.  This momentary, laser beam like, focus of attention, when accurate, I claim is designed to be an essential part of a guidance system built into the DNA transmitted architecture of the human being.  Gratitude reboots the machine and offers a momentary window of opportunity for freedom to choose.

A guided missile is on target only 1% of the time.  We breath approximately 1,000 times per hour.  1% of 1000 is 10.  That means that if we return to this location within our emotional anatomy once every 6 minutes, we are returning to the intelligently designed location within each of us which offers freedom to choose.

Here is where your personal responsibility comes in.  It is an unusual approach to the challenge of thinking that asks of you to return to an identifiable location within the “Emotional Anatomy” repeatedly so that freedom to think can become your habit and desire.

Remember this habit of thinking depends upon your free choice.

What fascinates me is that it seems only through gratitude are we offered this opportunity.  I have been unable to identify any other emotion that consistently liberates my mind from other more complicated tangles and much less easily identifiable gnarly knots of emotional anatomy.  To check it out for yourself requires a revisiting of the very gratitude that allows you to recognize this emotional anatomy in the first place.

I am claiming this to be evidence of an intelligent design for which “thank you” is the only logical intellectual response.  If it were any more complicated than this, we would be doomed to endless arguments about the source of our freedom to choose.  Instead we are offered gratitude for intelligent design without which we would have no reason to be grateful for such simple, elegant, genius.  Each of us would have different ideas about how to attain freedom and how we are to return to it.

Freedom to choose.  A personal responsibility.  One person at a time.

Here in lies your personal responsibility in the tug of war between stories.  Within your own heart mind body soul spirit there is a battle for control over your being.  Which will you choose, freedom or slavery?

No matter how deeply wounded and scarred your emotional anatomy, your freedom to choose allows you to identify the pathway to freedom and begin making new choices beginning with “thank you”.

Gratitude reboots the machine.  Which will you choose? Freedom or Slavery?  Intelligent Design.

Your Choice

Freedom to choose.  A personal responsibility.  One person at a time.

This is our personal responsibility in the tug of war between stories.  Within our own heart mind body soul spirit there is a battle for control over our being.  Which will we choose, freedom or slavery?

No matter how deeply wounded and scarred our emotional anatomy, our freedom to choose allows us to search for and identify our own struggle to find the pathway to freedom and begin making new choices. Try starting with “thank you”.

Gratitude reboots the machine.  Which will you choose? Freedom or Slavery?  Intelligent Design.

For Example:  The desire to exercise and eat healthy.  (Two thirds of us are over weight).  In many, this allows a very clear recognition of an opposition.  “I want to but I don’t.”  Habitual thought asks, “Why.?”  The mind gets lost in the many gnarly knots of self justification trying to answer this question.  The reasoning suggests that if I can answer the question “why?”, then I can fix the problem and proceed to accomplish my goal.

The paradigm shift:  The moods, feelings, attitudes, imagery that demand an answer to “Why?” are the opposition.  Freedom to choose discovers the tug of war, choose.  Change our diet.  Change personal habits. Choose to approach the problem by accepting personal responsibly for recognizing what is getting in the way.  (Perhaps, “I don’t care.”  The emotional cancer consuming our social systems.)

When I can recognize what is getting in the way, through gratitude, I find a new freedom to choose, a chance to change my response.  The obstacles are as many and varied as finger prints.  No two people are identical.  Yet there is the simple genius of intelligently designed human emotional anatomy:  “Gratitude reboots the machine.”  This new chance to choose begins to recognize familiar habits and patterns that prevent my healthy response.  This is War and I really do care.  If it were not this simple, we would be doomed.

‘Yes but’ you said you would… And so you made me mad… And what’s the matter with me?… It must be my fault… It makes me feel so guilty… You clearly don’t love me or you would change… I can’t take it any more… No one else cares, why should I care… Your tone of voice changed… I can’t believe you said that… It’s your fault… It’s my fault… You don’t understand… I’m such a fool for even trying… Fuck You… I Love You… You’re impossible… Impossible man kind… I choose to care.

No greater love has anyone than he who lays down his life for a friend.  Give and receive.  Compassion for our fellow man because they don’t know what they are doing.  This is war and these are our family and friends.  Forgiveness.  Gratitude reboots the machine.  Freedom to choose.  Intelligent Design.

Emotional Reflexes

We are grassroots people engaged in the battle for freedom.  Without vision we lose our way.  Without freedom we cannot choose our way.  Without understanding we are human emotional reflexes designed for survival.  Through illusion we are enslaved.  The truth sets us free.  Gratitude reboots the machine and offers another chance to choose wisely.  Intelligent Design.

As a species we must invest in confident familiarity with the tug of war between the stories which seek control over our hearts and minds. We are human beings designed to choose successful lives while meeting unseen, intelligent opposition, which causes painful wounding, often disabling our emotional anatomy.  There is even evidence for the scarring of our nervous systems and the leaving of indelible traces in our DNA.  Yet still, there is freedom to choose.

Intelligent Design must contain within itself the demonstration of its simple genius otherwise it becomes unbelievable and will not be freely chosen.  Similarly, by design, freedom to choose is naturally rewarding as it inspires the vast majority of us to freely choose for the good of more freedom. Otherwise human systems would have collapsed long ago. Yet our lives including my own and the history channel are filled with examples of how our free choices misunderstood and unaware leave us deeply wounded and enslaved in this tug of war by the power of emotional reflexes out of our control.

As I attempt to examine the usefulness of this theory, I have discovered a peculiar phenomenon which displays emotional anatomy in action.  A rather large percentage of those who study with me describe forgetting to do their single breath relaxation.  It is not unusual for me to hear many weeks later, “I just didn’t think about it.  No, I didn’t forget about it.  Now that you mention it, I remember.  And yes, it is useful when I use it.  I just didn’t think about it.”

Yet there are frequently repetitious complaints about the same uncomfortable habits that prompted a desire for this study of emotional anatomy in the first place, to understand and become familiar with the gnarly knots themselves.  “Why do I feel this way or that and go on doing what I don’t want to do?”  As I have said before, emotional anatomy doesn’t change, but it can be navigated through familiarity with how it works by our free choice.  Gratitude reboots the machine.

The modern half century has been dominated by positive thinkers who have left us responding to terrorists, occupiers, green and tea parties attempting to express their discontent.  I am not opposed to the free choice of positive ideas, just be aware of the greedy dictatorships that make positive profits the goal rather than freedom to choose for the good of freedom.  “Get away from me.  You are far too negative”, offers Enron, BP and the rest excuses for abuses.

Inspiration is capable of distracting us and may prevent our remembering gratitude’s gift of liberation by design.  Freedom intends to capture imagination through the naturally rewarding experience of endlessly creative thought, open to all, even spiritual influences, excitedly choosing that which is best, most beautiful, personally rewarding and free to choose.  Gratitude is the only logical response.  And through the liberation of our imagination, gratitude demonstrates itself as simple genius.  Intelligent Design.

It is not until you have been overwhelmed, even betrayed by your very personal dreams that the simplicity of gratitude emerges exciting enough to become reliably liberating.  For that moment of freedom offers an opening in the heart able to receive visions from Heaven, the tug of war between stories.

Freedom vs Slavery

Socrates is quoted to have said
“Let him that would move the world,
first move himself.”

But he left out of the instruction that
only through the gift of freedom to choose
will we move. Free to move the world.
Thus Begins Our Gratitude.
Intelligent Design.

The New Movie

“Change is God Creating You”

And it is your free choice as into whom you will become.

This is “The Story of Freedom”
Where we are challenged by “Guerrilla Mind Warfare”
And where we discover thoughts in opposition.
Freedom is far more powerful than weapons.

Freedom to Live, Forgive and Love.

Not My Idea
But My Free Choice

Emotional Anatomy

This theory is based upon what I claim to be a reproducible truth and direct observation. To begin with, I am claiming there is an emotional anatomy that is as real and observable as physical anatomy. However, where physical anatomy is observable via visible and tangible attributes, emotional anatomy requires visualization, conceptualization, imagination, intellectualization and familiarity to understand.

This would prove to be impossible if it were not governed by simple, elegant, principles which I regard as intelligently designed and part of a guidance system intended to demonstrate a consistent, intensional genius within its structure.

Gratitude reboots the machine and offers freedom to choose again.

Gnarly Knots inside us all

And inside my heart mind body soul spirit there is the tug of war between stories.  In stark contrast to freedom, I see my life time prisons, the impossible burden I carry.  I see it coming, so I step back.  I shut my mouth.  I just eat it.  I feel exploited and used.  And the bitterness grows.  No one else cares, why should I.  It grows until it blows.  And I become the Dr. Jekyll I hate.  When my mood changes, my movie changes and I don’t care–not by choice, I sell out to slavery.

And I wrestle against the many thousands of ideas images and urges that fight against me.  Then comes the gift of God’s Intelligent Design, the crazy gift of Jesus Christ that invites my being into relationship with Him and I discover that gratitude reboots my thinking machine.  Then for a moment I am given freedom to choose, suddenly aware of the story of freedom for all human kind.  Thank you is the only logical response.

Gratitude reboots the machine.  Simple, elegant, genius, intelligently designed, intended to impress me so that I would freely choose the better way, the path that leads me to heaven, cluttered with opposition refining my choices.  Here is the privilege of intimacy with God.  My free choice is to emphasize the simple solution, the intelligent design, the gift of freedom to choose.  Gratitude reboots the machine.  Freedom to choose the strength and love of God which changes my life forever.

Intelligent Design

Are you willing?  The first most important step in understanding how the mind works is motivation.  How can the human mind be motivated to pursue an understanding of itself and choose to overcome natural resistance, even opposition to its own most effective functions:  Inspiration. Invitation. Freedom to choose. Awareness. Familiarity. Willingness. Open to understanding the tug of war. Whose side are you on?  Freedom or Slavery.

Gnarly Knots Again

Navigating the gnarly knots of emotional anatomy is not easy. We are developing an open source language intended to share the story of freedom person to person because gnarly knots are part of every persons life. It is the sun light that illuminates the flaws in the diamond and feeds the hungry chlorophyll of our seedling dreams. Remember the “mind is like a garden” metaphor written so well by James Allen in “As a Man Thinketh”. Well, the human mind gets wounded without exception. The seedlings of hope found in youthful daydreams need to be nurtured, weeded, fertilized, shaped and gardened by caring generations. Chainsaws destroy years of growth and leave desert scars when used irresponsibly. We are challenged to share with each other the discovery and inspiration of the intelligently designed guidance system. Gardens grow in sunlight with proper water and nutrients. Gratitude reboots the machine and offers each of us another chance to freely choose.

Each generation is wounding the next through unresolved tangled webs (try 14 trillion in debt) that can become an inspiration to join into making our own personally significant contribution of Legacy. The Story of Freedom.
